Front Masters: the frontend bootcamp I ran

A Persian frontend bootcamp: three cohorts, two evenings a week, HTML to deployment.

This post is still growing and gets updated as I learn more.

Front Masters (فرانت مسترز) was the frontend bootcamp I ran in Persian. It used to have its own page on my old site; this post retells it.

It started with weekend lessons#

At Navac Asia, my first job, I learned TypeScript and React and taught them to teammates on weekends. Front Masters was that habit turned into a course.

Three cohorts, two evenings a week#

As far as I can reconstruct it, the bootcamp ran from about August 2018 to October 2019, in three cohorts. Each cohort met online for roughly ten weeks, two evenings a week, around 40 hours in all, on Skyroom, with a Telegram group for questions between sessions.

The syllabus went from HTML to deployment#

HTML and CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Redux and Next.js, with Git and deployment along the way. Each cohort worked from a starter-kit repository. The kits are still private; I want to publish them.

Around a dozen students got frontend jobs#

Cohorts were small, about 12 to 15 people each, so roughly 40 students in total. By my count, around a dozen of them were hired as junior frontend developers.

It ended when the day job took the evenings#

I stopped once OPTime and Kouventa turned into full-time work.

The teaching moved to video#

After the bootcamp, the teaching went on as a Persian tutorial channel on YouTube and Aparat, roughly from 2020 to 2023: about 30 videos, with series such as "Go for frontend developers", "React Query from zero" and "Docker for frontend devs".

The dates and numbers in this post are approximate and will be corrected against the cohort records.
